Excuse Me?

"Heads Up! #14 Original Oil ©2011 Trish Stevenson

What is this horse thinking? I just wonder what animals think of us humans sometimes, the way they look at you, kinda sideways, like "are for real?" I always enjoy exploring the colors of white in a painting and this time I contrasted the cool blues with a warm background, great fun. SOLD

Palomino Power

 6 x 6 Original Oil ©2011 Trish Stevenson

I was going to call this "Blondes Have More Fun" but this horse looked a little too noble and wise for that! I have not painted too many Palominos up to now, maybe because I had never really known any before. However, I have met one now and he is a bit of a character, (what do you expect with a name like "SpongeBob" )? and I do love exploring the colors of horses. This is #13 of the Heads Up! Series.
SOLD

Prairie Companions

"Prairie Companions" Original Pastel ©2011 Trish Stevenson

The wide open spaces of the prairie can be quite beautiful and peaceful - maybe a bit lonesome at times. This young horse seems content to munch alongside a couple of visiting birds keeping him company.

Little Bold One

"Little Bold One"  6 x 9 inch Original Pastel ©2011 Trish Stevenson

It's entertaining to me to watch a calf as curiosity overtakes fear and it ventures away from it's mama to check things out. Mama is never too far away, though. Part of the 100 for $100 series. Click here to bid.

Longhorn Colors

"Longhorn Colors"  - 9"x 6" Pastel ©2011 Trish Stevenson

Longhorn cattle are such a classic icon of the West and they are really fun to paint because of their horns and colorful markings. As I was painting this one, I kept adding more color to the background, it just felt like a little more pizazz was appropriate for this guy. Click here for purchase information.

Swans on the River

"Swans on the River" - 6" x 6" - Original Oil - ©2011 Trish Stevenson

Here I am, out of my comfort zone, painting birds and water instead of horses and dust. Keeps me on my toes I guess, and actually was more fun than I thought it would be. It's amazing how many colors are reflected in clear water! Click here to bid.

Curious Cows

"Curious Cows" 6" x 6" Original Oil ©2011 Trish Stevenson

Cows can be a curious bunch. Most of these were Black Angus, with a few red ones thrown in. The cow on the right is a "black baldy" - Black Angus crossed with a Hereford and thus the white face. What intriqued me about this scene, besides their curiosity, was the late afternoon sky backlighting the animals.
Unframed original oil on gallery-wrap canvas, ready to hang or frame as you wish. SOLD

Heads Up! #8

"Heads Up! #8 - 6 x 6" Original Oil ©2011 Trish Stevenson

Here is another in the "mini" series focusing on the expressive eyes, ears, nostrils, etc of the horse. This young sorrel seems shy, but inquisitive. here to bid.Click here to bid.

Heads Up! #10

"Heads Up! #10 Original Oil 6 x 6" ©2011 Trish Stevenson

I love the gentle eye on this horse. Seems the bigger the horse, the more gentle they can be and if you have ever been around small horses, some of them are downright ornery, maybe a defense mechanism to account for their size. This painting has a warm glow to it and I had fun exploring the colors in the shadows. It is another in the miniseries, "Heads Up!, which focuses on the ever expressive eyes, ears and head of the horse. It is an original oil  painted on a gallery-wrapped canvas, 6 x 6", the 3/4" sides are also painted, so you can hang it as is, place on a table easel or frame as you wish. Click here to bid.

"Diamond in the Rough"

Classic cars run in our family. As long as I can remember, my dad has been restoring old cars. A '38 Buick, 50's Cadillacs, even a Bentley. In his early 80's now, and still restoring, he has of late been enchanted with Packards. This one is awaiting it's turn in the weeds for now. The fun for me in painting old cars and trucks is in the rusting colors and the light bouncing off the still-shiny chrome, not to mention the beautiful lines in those classic designs.
